Use a Blog to feed those Spiders

Typically people do this:
- Create a static website explaining their business and what they do
- Leave it sit and hope people visit, buy traffic (usually through PPC)
Creating a website but not updating it on a consistent basis is not good for SEO. You can have a great link building campaign, but if you’re not feeding the spiders some fresh content on a CONSISTENT basis, then you are doing your site a disservice.
So here’s what you need to do…
- Go to WordPress.org and download their latest version of the software.
- Visit the WordPress installation guide to find out how to install it on to your site’s server
- Download Jeff Johnson’s FREE SEO WordPress Software and install
- Start Posting!!!
Make sure you blog ATLEAST 3 times per week with GOOD content. Just having your blog on your static site ALONE will help with rankings. Keep the URL simple, something like www.YourSite.com/blog is good enough. Also, when it comes to making your blog look good, there are plenty of FREE themes you can search for in the wordpress directory.
If you don’t have a site up yet, or you just need a good host, I recommend using HostGator. Hostgator is VERY affordable, and VERY reliable. They work EXTREMELY well with all the wordpress software and plugins I use for SEO, including Jeff Johnson’s FREE Traffic Getting SEO Software.
Later I will get into Linking, and why its important for your new blog to have links back to your site. Until then, FEED THOSE SPIDERS!
